Asheron is calling, will you pick up?

Click here to Answer the call - Start playing AC.

Asheron's Call is an MMO that was built by a start-up company named Turbine in 1999 in someone's mom's living room. It's old, the graphics aren't impressive by todays standards, it is missing some "standard" features common to modern MMOs (like a banking system). It's been through some ups and downs with managment and marketing issues. However, it is worth playing and enjoyed by a loyal fan base of descriminating players.

Snow's Unofficial Reasons to Answer the Call

15. Huge landmass
- The world "Dereth" is larger than the real U.S. state of Rhode Island and is the largest non-instanced online game world in existance, as far as I know.

14. No "zones", no "instances"
You will actually meet other players exploring the country-side.

13. No cardboard cut-out backgrounds
- If you see it in the distance, you can visit it.

12. Hundreds... maybe over a thousand dungeons
- Many varied styles. No instancing in dungeons either.

11. Hundreds of quests
- Solo quests, group quests, easy, hard, prizes. There is something for everyone. I've played since the game launched and haven't done them all.

10. Random monster loot system
- Your armor and weapons can be different than anyone elses.

9. Landscape player housing
- Walk out your front door, visit a neighboor, explore your back yard. Newer MMOs are moving away from landscape housing.

8. Value
- $19.95 to download, 1 month free, 12.95 each month after. Compare that to your cable TV bill.

7. The "home" players come back to
- Whenever a player "quits" the joke amoung other players is "We'll see you in 3 months". Many players who leave to try other MMOs return to AC.

6. Active community and fan support
- Meet players in game, or look up advice online. There are lots of excellent websites and players in game are very friendly. There is also fan made open-source software, most of which is allowed by the game rules.

5. You don't need a super computer
- If your computer is 5 years old, and maybe older, it can probably play AC. Of course, if all you care about is shiny amazing graphics, this is not the game for you.

4. Custom character classes
- Well there actually are NO classes. You can choose your favorites from all the skills.

3. HUGE amounts of lore and history
- If you like fantasy stories, history, and lore you will love reading through the back story of the game.

2. Original world and monsters
- No trolls, goblins, dwarves, and definatly no elves.

1. FREE Updates every month
- Every month there are new quests, items, and new stories to read.
